X-ISM is a state of the art VST/AU plug-in which can interpret
inter-sample peaks, allowing engineers to make informed judgements
about the resultant sound quality of the mix.
There is currently a trend in the in the audio industry known
euphemistically as ‘The loudness war’ in which the engineering process
is driven to produce a product which is as loud as is technically
possible
within the constraints of the medium. Debate rages as to whether this
produces problems that degrade and distort the audio.
One reason for
this distortion is often blamed on the presence of ‘inter-sample
peaks’, where signals that are usually missed by the Fs sampling of DAW
meters, may actually exceed 0dBfs in reconstruction from digital to
analogue domain in some Digital to Analogue Converters (DACs).
The First Acoustic Room Correction System in a Plug-in
One
of the most critical factors influencing the quality of a music
production is the accuracy of the monitoring system. In fact, the
combination of speakers and room acoustics prove to be the weakest link
in the music production chain. When monitors are placed in a room, the
surrounding walls, ceiling, furniture and other objects reflect and
absorb their sounds; creating complex distortions specific to the room-
causing them to lose the accuracy they have been designed for, and you
end up hearing more of the sound of the room than the music actually
being produced.
IK Multimedia has teamed up with the leading
provider of sound equalization solutions, Audyssey, for the production
of an innovative, low-cost and mobile solution to correct the
distortion problems caused by room acoustics: ARC system.
ARC
System delivers the most advanced solution to acoustical problems for
any DAW-based studio. Combining a professionally calibrated microphone,
standalone software that captures sound information and calculates
proper room correction, and a multi-platform plug-in: this technology
will improve how your studio sounds forever.
ARC features
the revolutionary Audyssey MultEQ® technology, which measures
acoustical information throughout the listening area in your studio. It
then combines this information to provide an accurate representation of
the room’s acoustical problems. The equalization solution then corrects
for both time and frequency response problems more effectively and
efficiently than any other room correction EQ on the market. The result
is a clear and reliable representation of your mix. Regardless of the
acoustical issues in your studio, what you are recording, mixing or
mastering becomes immediately clear and reliable and your studio sound
will improve forever.

Equalizers 101: Solutions from Mixing Mistakes - Application
Like everything else in music or recording, applying equalization (EQ) is an art. You have to rely on a person?s ear, and often trial and error.
Human beings generally can hear frequencies between 20 Hz (Hertz) ? 20 kHz). Music producers use different words to describe their perception of frequencies in certain ranges.
The DRM Manifesto For Musicians, Artists, Songwriters And Everyone Else Who Isn't Paying Attention
by Moses Avalon,
Or, It's Winner Take All in the Cage Match Between Music And The Net. Are You Watching From a Box Seat?
PROLOGUE: In March of 2007, EMI, facing serious strategic challenges, became the first Major label to issue DRM-free (no copy-protection) downloads on iTunes. To facilitate this, Apple's
CEO broke his promise to maintain uniform pricing of 99 cents: DRM-free
will cost about 30% more than other sales. Response from the other
three competing Major labels was shock and disappointment. Will they be
forced to also do DRM-free to compete?
Two weeks later, the U.S. Copyright Office
decided that Major labels will be allowed to charge higher rates to
webcasters for streaming music. Response from Tech Companies was shock
and disappointment. Will they have to pay labels more to provide the
public with a radio service they don't even charge for?
For the first time in the history of guitar technology, guitarists can have access to the authentic software reproduction of the complete Jimi Hendrix rig in a single product – AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix™.
Every now and again a piece of audio equipment comes along that defines the sound of an era. Back in 1979 Solid State Logic gave birth to a legendary recording console. The SSL SL 4000E Master Studio System forever changed how records would be recorded and mixed, heralding a new age in popular music. In less than three years, every major studio worldwide featured at a least one room with an SSL “E” Series console.
The SSL Listen Mic Compressor was the secret weapon in many producers sonic arsenal of recording techniques. Originally designed to prevent overloading the return feed from a studio communications mic, its fixed attack and release curves were eminently suitable for use on ambient drums mics. Of course, we’d like to take all the credit for this great sound, but as usual, it was the creativity of SSL users that led to the idea.

In
this article, we'll talk about what sponsorships are and how to get
them. We'll also talk about how to identify what sponsorships may or
may not be right for your band and how to manage your sponsorships when
you get them.
First, lets start with what sponsorships are and what it means to
your band. Sponsorship is when a company or individual finances a
project or event carried out by another person, company, or group of
people, in exchange for advertising exposure. In short, a sponsor is
giving you money to finance your music project, "band," in hopes that
you have the power to influence your audience about their brand
awareness.

Mopis is a high-quality software synthesizer that combines traditional
subtractive synthesis with new technology we call reconstructive
synthesis.
Mopis uses subtractive synthesis to create the same sounds
that analog synths have used for years. The oscillators generate basic
waveforms-- sawtooth, square, triangle, and sine waves-- which are
processed by Mopis's filters. The filter options include a warm,
non-linear, analog-style filter, so you can get your favorite analog
synth sounds out of Mopis.
